Get to know JOE

I'm thrilled to share news about our Older & Reckless community event, the JOE Project, a co-production with Fondation Jean-Pierre Perreault, presented in association with Harbourfront Centre, November 11 & 12

25 courageous amateurs will step onto the Harbourfront Centre Theatre stage, some for the first time, at Older & Reckless, to perform an excerpt of JOE, a contemporary classic, choreographed by GG winner Jean-Pierre Perreault (1947- 2002). The novice performers will be joined by 6 ex-JOE professionals- Julia Aplin, Marie-Josée Chartier, Bonnie Kim, Julia Sasso and Gerry Trentham, plus former Dancemaker Gary Tai- to recreate an exciting chapter in Canadian dance history!

JOE toured the world to international acclaim. Now, thanks to the Fondation Jean-Pierre Perreault, an excerpt of JOE is taught to and performed by amateurs. They gain an understanding of Jean-Pierre's vision by performing an excerpt of his most renowned work.

“As someone who has never performed onstage never mind danced, I am honoured to be trusted to participate in the Joe project. I am excited to experience a new perspective and understand my strengths and limitations in a new way.” ~ JOE participant

Some of the JOE participants gathered to hear Carol Anderson speak about Perreault- Linda Carter, Mai Duong, Liz Haines, Suzanne Jaeger, David Keshen, Slade Lander, Joanna Pax-Milic, Sucheta Rajagopal, Julia Sasso, Eve Schifman, Judithann Smith, Gary Tai, Michael Ward, Dianne Weinrib, Patricia White
