“I never decided to be a dancer or a choreographer; I simply was born into it. I was raised on a stage of transformative performances by an extraordinary performer, my grandmother, who danced into her 90s. In my childhood I could not help but see life through my grandmother’s eyes. I was my grandmother’s audience. I was a participant at the same time. Our interaction was personal and as intimate as breath. The performer was not performing, but experiencing.” – Sashar Zarif
At O&R#40, Sashar will perform his solo work The wound is the place where the light enters you.
“It is a transformative dance showing the way to enlightenment. The whole thing is akin to an act of love.” - Susan Walker’s Artsblog
