O&R#40- Friday & Saturday! PETER CHIN's Community Work and Travel Info

I have known Peter since 1988, when he asked me to perform in one of his 1st creations and have admired Peter’s work ever since. I am thrilled to present his new piece 'Tell Everyone' with 20 non-professional dance enthusiasts and five professionals at Older & Reckless #40. Last week, I attended the 1st rehearsal with the entire cast and was truly astonished to see the level of commitment and skill in these brave community dancers. Here’s a sneak peek- Claudia

In Peter’s words- 'Tell Everyone' embodies and honours the words uttered by Taliesin Myrddin Namkai Meche, a young man of 23 years. This May, Taliesin, along with two other men, had been defending two Muslim girls against the racist aggression of a white supremacist on public transit in Portland Oregon. The aggressor turned on the three men, attacking them with a knife. As Taliesin lay bleeding to death in the arms of the woman, a stranger who comforted him, he told her, “Tell everyone on this train I love them.” They were his last words before he died. Led by brilliant seasoned pros Susie Burpee, Marie-Josée Chartier, Bonnie Kim, Danny Wild and Francisco Carrera (Mexico), the work contains a potent social statement, delivered with passion and artistry in Peter Chin fashion. Not to be missed!
