Dance Video Spotlight - Vickie Fagan
CREATORS NOTES from videographer Vickie FAGAN on the collaborative creation of a new dance video featuring contemporary dance artist Sara PORTER for Older & Reckless: 20 Years of Age on Stage
As a filmmaker, I cherish the times I can work collaboratively with a fellow creator. This project was the perfect storm. Sara Porter is an artist that is fearless, funny, poignant and wickedly creative. What fun it was to play with ideas without clearly knowing how they would fit into the end picture. We were able to riff back and forth allowing for spontaneity within a loose framework. Though I may be partial, I love how the moments found a cohesive train.

Vickie Fagan is an award-winning filmmaker, writer and communications specialist. She launched Fagan Media Group in the fall of 2010. Vickie’s television background includes over fifteen years with Chum Television, where she worked as a producer of arts documentaries, short films and series television.
Fagan acted as creator, producer and co-writer on the holiday film,” The Curse of Clara, A Holiday Tale”, based on a short story written by Fagan. A co-production with Smiley Guy Studios and Veronica Tennant Productions, the animated film premiered on CBC Television in December 2015 and continues to air annually. The Curse of Clara won the 2017 Canadian Screen Award for Best Animated Series or Program.
Her extensive communications background encompasses work in marketing, brand strategy and content creation. Her writing has been featured in the Globe and Mail, TVO digital, Descant Literary Journal, Dance Collection Danse Magazine and Zoomer online. Her most recent work in the arts includes marketing, fundraising and digital content creation. She produces the annual Dance Collection Danse Hall of Fame and most recently joined the management team at Peggy Baker Dance Projects as Director of Development and Marketing.
