Older & Reckless Kelowna!

Exciting news to share!

Our 20th anniversary program, Older & Reckless: 20 years of Age on Stage will be presented by the Rotary Centre for the Arts in Kelowna BC on Saturday, May 1 at 7:00pm BC PDT (10:00pm EDT)!

We are honoured to share our program with the BC audience- featuring 4 commissioned dance films including William Yong’s award-winning Noppera-bō 野箆坊 with Denise Fujiwara, video excerpts of 2 outdoor works with 31 dance artists and 10 community movers and testimonials from colleagues across the country.

From Artistic Director Claudia Moore

“It was thrilling to present Older & Reckless in Kelowna in June 2018 as part of Rotary Centre for the Arts’ terrific Creative Aging Festival. That event featured stellar performers Simone Orlando (AD Ballet Kelowna), Stelio Calagias (Front Street Dance, Nelson BC), Cori Derickson (Westbank First Nations), Joe Laughlin (AD Joe Ink), plus 18 local community dancers- and I performed for my granddaughter! We are so excited for our ongoing relationship with RCA and the enthusiastic Kelowna community!”

Also- hot off the press - Karma Lacoff Nieoczym, the Rotary Centre for the Arts’ Theatre Programming Coordinator who is working with MOonhORsE for our O&R 20th livestream, has just received the 2020 Honour in the Arts Award from The City of Kelowna! Karma is a leader who passionately wears many hats and is well known for her roles with several Okanagan organizations. Congratulations, Karma!

Friday April 30 - VERNACULAR JAZZ with Natasha Powell

Vernacular Jazz is a collection of dances created in the African-American communities during the late 1800’s through mid 1900’s, to jazz and swing music. From the Charleston to the shimmy, to Snake Hips, to the Suzy Q, we’ll dance to some snazzy rhythms while learning the moves and grooves of original jazz dancing.
